Gameday Picture Link-Up - Week 6

This past weekend marked the half-way point of the regular season of college football.  and what a CRAZY weekend of football it was!  My personal favorite game of the weekend, and perhaps one of the biggest upsets of the season was NC State vs Florida State.  Coming off a loss to Miami, NC State beat 3rd ranked FSU, 17 to 16, with a late (and I mean late) 4th quarter touchdown.  (Go PACK!)

Another very interesting game was the much talked about South Carolina vs Georgia game.  There was a LOT of junk talking going on between these two schools, and really between these two states, but all the talk ceased after Georgia was scoreless at halftime and only got one touchdown in the game.  The final score was 35 to 7 and South Carolina moved up the polls and is ranked third now in the polls.

Other interesting aspects from the weekend was Florida beating LSU at Florida and in the ACC, Duke being 5 and 1 (this is super rare, congrats Duke!)

Sorry we are a day late on the Gameday Picture Link-Up, but we'd love to see your pictures from this very interesting past weekend in college football!

Below are some of my pictures from the NC State game.

Pigskins & Pearls 101

Today we are resuming a series we started last year, Pigskins & Pearls 101.  While we love gameday fashion and recipes, we also LOVE the game of football.  The holding, the stiff-arms, the blocking, the passing, so we we came up with this series to help explain some of the basic, and not so basic, rules and play calls of our favorite sport.

 pigskins & pearls

Holding (Offensive) - A foul in which an offensive player keeps a defender from advancing by grasping him with his hands or arms. Offensive linemen are allowed to use their hands as long as they keep them to the inside of a defenders body, but if they get to the outside of the defender's body, it is a penalty

Pass Interference - A penalty that occurs when a player interferes with an eligible receiver's ability to make a fair attempt to catch a forward pass. Pass interference may include tripping, pushing, pulling, or cutting in front of the receiver or pulling on the receiver's arms
